Overall objectives

  • Master the creation, audits and updates of a Product and Process FMEA, in the context of the organizing company.

Learning operational objectives

  • E-learning module : Understand the application context and operating principleof the FMEA method (Failure Mode, Effect and Criticality Analysis)
  • E-Learning module: Understand and apply the various stages of the FMEA :
    • Prepare the conditions for a successful approach.
    • Identify potential system failure modes, their causes and effects.
    • Analyze the associated risks using Severity, Occurrence and Detection ratings.
    • Prioritize additional actions required.
    • Reduce risks by deploying selected actions.
  • Workshop: Practice the different stages of FMEA in the context of the organizing company.
  • Workshop: Based on each participant's role in the company, learn how to:
    • Prepare the conditions for a Manage FMEA process.
    • Lead FMEA meetings.
    • Review and audit existing FMEA.
    • Update existing FMEA.
  • Practical workshop:Understand the classic mistakes made during the development of a FMEA, understand their implications and learn how to avoid them.

The "Pluses" of the training session

  • The combination of the e-learning module and the practical workshop reduces the total training time and therefore the cost.
  • Highly interactive e-learning module to be completed individually by participants before the practical workshop (approximately 2 hours)
  • Practical workshop led in turn by each participant, based on the organizing company's internal product and process examples.
  • This training includes a 6-months period of post training support (email exchanges, webinars, phone, response time depending on the trainer’s availability).

Organization and resources

  • E-learning module available at least one week before the practical workshop.
  • Practical workshop available on customer site or online.
  • Workshop duration = 1 day Product FMEA and 1 day Process FMEA (possible to take only one of the two)
  • Number of participants limited to 8 per group (for the workshop).
  • For face-to-face training, the room must have a video projector as well as a flipchart and a whiteboard with coloured markers in working order.
  • The attendees must dispose of a laptop computer, connected to the internet, with MS Excel 2007 or more installed.

Evaluation mode

  • Level assessment quizzes for each attendee at the beginning and the end of the training session.
  • Hot satisfaction questionnaire completed by each attendee at the end of the training.
  • Cold evaluation questionnaire, to evaluate achievements realized after the training completed 3 months after training, by each attendee, with their hierarchy.

Targeted audience

  • Anyone involved in the design and development of a new product.

Prerequisite

  • Participants should have an experience of the products and manufacturing processes of the company organizing the training.
  • At least 1 year professional experience in either production, project management, industrial engineering, quality, product design and engineering.

Trainer profile

  • Holds master’s diploma from top tier engineering school (Centrale, INSA, Arts et Métiers, UTC). Equivalent to Master's degree in industrial engineering.
  • 20 years of industrial experience in the implementation of design and development methodologies in risk assessment for automotive industry (Functional analysis, DFMEA, PFMEA, etc.).
