Overall objectives
- Know how to carry out the "Design For Manufacturing and Assembly" process (DFM, DFA, DFMA), taking into account the products, manufacturing and assembly means of the participants, in order to improve industrial competitiveness.
Learning operational objectives
- Understand the purpose of Design for Manufacturing & Assembly.
- Initiate a DFMA initiative by fixing clear DFMA objectives and taking into account the [b]necessary input data, constraints and the relevant lessons learned from similar past projects.
- Carry out a Functional Analysis (Needs and internal) Allowing the choice of the optimal architecture of a product with regard to all functional needs, including those related to manufacturing and assembly constraints.
- Understand the links that exist between assembly constraints, manufacturing constraints and other functional constraints, know how to take them into account optimally.
- Understand how the DFMA approach [b]is changing the[b] design and development process.
- Build on the learning experience resulting from a DFMA project.
The "Pluses" of the training session
- This training is preceded by a tailoring period: Tailor-made training materials and practical workshops on examples of products, manufacturing and assembly means specific to the organizing company.
- This training includes a 6-months period of post training support (email exchanges, webinars, phone, response time depending on the trainer’s availability).
Organization and resources
- Each attendee receives a training manual in English as well as exercise and workshop files used during the session.
- For face-to-face training, the room must have a video projector as well as a flipchart and a whiteboard with coloured markers in working order.
- The attendees must dispose of a laptop computer, connected to the internet, with MS Excel 2007 or more installed.
Evaluation mode
- Level assessment quizzes for each attendee at the beginning and the end of the training session.
- Hot satisfaction questionnaire completed by each attendee at the end of the training.
- Cold evaluation questionnaire, to evaluate achievements realized after the training completed 3 months after training, by each attendee, with their hierarchy.
Targeted audience
- Any person who must implement, use or participate to the "Design For Manufacturability and Assembly" method within the design process of the organizing company.
Prerequisite
- At least 1 year professional experience in either production, project management, industrial engineering, quality, product design and engineering.
- To have experience in mechanical design in the context of the company organizing the training.
- To have experience of the organizing company's products.
Trainer profile
- Holds master’s diploma from top tier engineering school.
- 20 years' experience in mechanical design (mechanical calculations, ISO dimensioning, blueprint reading, 2D/3D tolerancing), value and functional analysis, FMEA, in an industrial environment.
