" Formateur au top, très pédagogue , qui ne laisse aucune incertitude ou incompréhension. "
Philippe, VALEO (18/06/2021)
" Très interactif, pas possible d'être passif pendant la formation, c'est un grand plus. "
Yann, FAURECIA (23/11/2022)
" Formation et support très bien conçu, les explications sont claires alors que le sujet est complexe. Cette formation est adaptée pour des applications initiales tout comme de consolidation. "

Overall objectives

  • Know how to realize and optimize a tolerance analysis considering the effects of manufacturing process’ mean off-centering, process capability data, 2D & 3D effects, on the product designs of the organizing company.

Learning operational objectives

  • Understand the risks associated to hypotheses used in the traditional tolerance analysis methods (Worst Case and statistical centered):
    • "Over-Quality" (non-conform components in Cp/cpk, generating conform assemblies).
    • "Non-compliant" (conform components in Cp/Cpk, generating non-conform assemblies).
  • Understand these risks in all possible configurations (number of dimensions in the stack, 2D/3D impacts, high sensitivity values, high contribution to the variance...).
  • Understand the risks that are present in function of all possible off-centerings/standard deviations present on the dimensions of a tolerance stackup.
  • Conclude about how useful are the "Worst Case" and "Statistically centered" methods:
    • In which cases do they have advantages?
    • In which cases are they dangerous.?
  • Apply some simple methods to prevent the risks associated to these two methods when they are used.
  • Implement the "semi-quadratic" tolerance analysis method to better control all serial-life possible configurations of standard deviation/off-centering:
    • “Fine tune” tolerance analysis results, considering process off-centering.
    • Specify admissible zone of off-centering and standard deviation on all dimensions in a stackup.
    • Refine derogatory decisions in case of non conforms (based on actual mean off-centerings & standard deviations on all dimensions in the stackup).

The "Pluses" of the training session

  • Training adapted "tailor-made" on product applications of the trainees (Case studies used if necessary). Workshops directly realized on these products examples.
  • Theoretical parts organized in a dynamic and interactive way (workshops in subgroups, quizzes, questions, etc.).
  • This training includes a 6-months period of post training support (email exchanges, webinars, phone, response time depending on the trainer’s availability).

Organization and resources

  • Each attendee receives a training manual in English as well as exercise and workshop files used during the session.
  • For face-to-face training, the room must have a video projector as well as a flipchart and a whiteboard with coloured markers in working order.

Evaluation mode

  • Level assessment quizzes for each attendee at the beginning and the end of the training session.
  • Cold evaluation questionnaire, to evaluate achievements realized after the training completed 3 months after training, by each attendee, with their hierarchy.
  • Hot satisfaction questionnaire completed by each attendee at the end of the training.

Targeted audience

  • Anyone likely to be involved the realization of tolerance analysis on product and/or process applications of the company who organizes the training.

Prerequisite

  • Attendees have successfully completed, at minimum, a “bachelor” academic curriculum in engineering, mathematics, sciences, industrial engineering.
  • At least 1 year professional experience in either production, project management, industrial engineering, quality, product design and engineering.
  • Participants should have an experience of the products and manufacturing processes of the company organizing the training.

Trainer profile

  • Holds master’s diploma from top tier engineering school (Centrale, INSA, Arts et Métiers, UTC). Equivalent to Master's degree in industrial engineering.
  • 20 years of experience in industrial design and process development methodologies (functional analisis, FMEA, etc.) and in industrial statistics (tolerance analysis, functional quotation, capabilities analysis of measurement and manufacturing means, etc.).
